Sinai offshore fields hit highest production level since 2017 at 27,000 barrels per day

According to the ministry, the recent increase has generated an output surplus of more than 10,000 barrels per day compared to previous levels.

Egypt’s Sinai offshore fields have recorded their highest daily production level since 2017, reaching around 27,000 barrels of crude oil per day, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The ministry said the concession area, operated by Italian energy company Eni in partnership with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), has seen production growth of more than 50% since the start of 2025, marking one of the strongest growth rates in decades, despite some fields being in production for over 60 years.

It added that Eni has implemented an investment program targeting development across the Gulf of Suez, Sinai, and Nile Delta regions, aimed at maximizing output from existing assets and supporting Egypt’s broader efforts to boost domestic oil and gas production.

According to the ministry, the recent increase has generated an output surplus of more than 10,000 barrels per day compared to previous levels, along with cumulative additional production exceeding 2.8 million barrels since January 2025.

The performance was driven by an intensive production optimization program, which included the application of advanced technologies, improved operational efficiency, reduced downtime, and the resumption of drilling activities in 2026.

The ministry also highlighted strong results from wells BM-133 and 113-M-131, which together produced more than 3,200 barrels of oil per day with minimal associated water production, significantly supporting overall field performance.

It said the results reflect the success of Egypt’s strategy to maximize output from mature fields through close cooperation between EGPC, IEOC (Eni’s subsidiary), and Petrobel, contributing to energy security, reducing import needs, and supporting sustainable growth in the petroleum sector.
