The decision, made at the request of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance visa facilitation for visitors traveling to Egypt for tourism purposes.

The Egyptian government announced it will extend the free 96-hour transit visa for an additional year, valid until April 2027, in a move aimed at supporting the growing tourism sector.

The decision, made at the request of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance visa facilitation for visitors traveling to Egypt for tourism purposes.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the extension of the emergency entry visa for tourists arriving by air at Luxor and Aswan airports during the summer seasons of 2026 and 2027 (May to October), under the same conditions currently in place.

The government cited positive results from the emergency entry visa program, which has helped increase tourist arrivals from markets favoring cultural tourism, particularly in Luxor and Aswan.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that Egypt welcomed approximately 18.8 million tourists in 2025, up from 15 million in 2024, reflecting the continued recovery and growth of the tourism sector.
