Egypt’s annual core inflation, compiled by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), edged up to 11.6% in July 2025 from 11.4% in June. The monthly change in the core consumer price index posted a negative 0.3%, compared to -0.5% in July 2024 and -0.2% in June 2025.
According to the CBE, the core inflation measure excludes volatile items such as food and energy, providing a clearer view of underlying price trends.
Meanwhile, data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that the monthly change in the headline urban consumer price index recorded -0.5% in July 2025, against 0.4% in July 2024 and -0.1% in June 2025.
On an annual basis, headline urban inflation slowed to 13.9% in July from 14.9% in June, reflecting continued easing in price pressures despite persistent global economic challenges.
This moderation comes after months of monetary easing by the CBE aimed at supporting growth, while balancing inflationary risks.
